On Wednesday, 9 April 2025, at 7 pm, you are invited toInfocenter Triglavska roža Bled for the presentation of the book The Secret Life of Cows and the opening of a painting exhibition Vis-à -vis by the French-German painter Nadia Schmidt.

ABOUT THE BOOK:

In her book The Secret Life of Cows, English organic farmer Rosamund Young, now 73, has collected her experiences of working with animals on her farm, Larks' Nest. She weaves the importance of organic farming, changing landscapes and good quality food among the stories that reveal the hidden world of farm animals. The accompanying note to the Slovenian edition of the book focuses on the long and interesting coexistence of cows and humans. Stories from the English countryside that could easily happen somewherein Slovenia!

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION:

Nadia SCHMIDT: German artist living in the south of France and Vis-à-vis exhibition:

"The infallibility of  Nadia Schmidt’s unerring eye captures movement.

On canvas, she divides it between ‘Op Art’ and ‘Figurative’, through time, from the sixties to the present day.

Her themes revolve around Nature: Clair-Obscur of Var forests, floral enlargement, grasses in the wind...

The animal is endearing. Its conquering presence invades the canvas and creates a dialogue between the animal and the viewer."

Carine DELECOUR (Belgian architect and gallerist)

The exhibition will be on display until 11 May 2025.

Marjeta Albinini, the translator of the book, and Nadia Schmidt, a French painter of German origin, with the help of moderator Ana Kunstelj, will discuss the book, cows, painting and secrets of this and that kind.
