Almost 2 km long and up to 50 m deep, the Pokljuka Gorge was carved into limestone bedrock by a glacial outflow from the melting glacier at Pokljuka, creating the largest fossil gorge in Slovenia.
The trail will lead us along the Juliana Trail to the Primary School in Zgornje Gorje, then through Krnica to the starting point in Jela. From there, we will follow the circular forest trail through the Pokljuka Gorge back to Jela and we will finish back at the car park at the Primary School in Zgornje Gorje. The tour of the gorge will be
guided by Triglav National Park guides. The trail is not technically demanding, but does, however, reach higher altitudes in certain sections (the 'Galleries').
Appropriate footwear and walking sticks (optional) are required. Bring snacks, enough water and protection against sun or rain.
As the number of participants in the free guided tour is limited, registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
