The Triglav National Park with the Julian Alps Biosphere Area and the Julian Prealps Natural Park have been linked for almost 20 years as the Transboundary Julian Alps Ecoregion and, since this year, as the Transboundary Julian Alps Biosphere Area. As part of their joint activities, in 2024 the Triglav National Park will present the photo exhibition Magical Nature 2022 to visitors of the Info Centre of the Julian Prealps Natural Park in Resia.
The sixth edition of the International Nature Photography Competition "Magical Nature 2022" attracted 209 entries from all over the world. In total, they submitted almost 3,000 photographs, which were grouped into six categories: mammals, birds, other animals, plants, natural landscapes, humans and nature. A four-member jury of nature photographers from Slovenia, Italy and Norway selected one winning photo in each category and 9 others to receive an award. The two photographers who impressed the jury the most with their work were awarded the title "Nature Photographer of the Year 2022" and "Slovenian Nature Photographer of the Year 2022". The winning photographs were also used for an exhibition. The year 2022 in the title of the exhibition is not a mistake - the competition and the exhibition were indeed held in 2023, but the photos were mostly taken in 2022.
