Legal basis for the operation of the Triglav National Park.
The Triglav National Park Act (Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, št. 52/10, 46,14) establishes the National Park, and also defines the area, the protection zones and the areas of the narrower protected areas in the National Park, the rules of management and protection regimes, the method of management, the participation of the public and the inhabitants of the National Park in the management, the sustainable development guidelines in the National Park and in the areas of the self-governing local communities in the National Park, and the method of their implementation, financing, supervision, sanctions and other actions related to the objectives and purposes of the Act.
The Nature Conservation Act (UPB-2, Official Journal of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 96/2004) establishes a comprehensive system of nature conservation in Slovenia, setting out measures for the conservation of biodiversity and a system for the protection of natural values for nature conservation. The law defines protected nature areas, including the broader category of national park.

Offending authority
The Triglav National Park Public Institute is the offence authority whose authorised persons conduct and decide on offence proceedings under Articles 64 and 65 of the Triglav National Park Act.
