Celebrating the anniversary of Triglav National Park and the European Week of Parks under the slogan Parks: The Next Generation, the sister parks will host a joint event to present their cooperation with educational institutions and the youth. The presentation will be in English. The link to the online event will be published on TNP website

Albin Belar Nature Science Days (Belar Days)

May to end of September

On the occasion of the Belar Days, the pupils of primary schools included in the Community of Schools of the Julian Alps Biosphere Reserve received a special  issue of the children's newsletter, with an invitation to explore, with their families, the wonderful hiking trails of the Julian Alps during this year’s hiking season. To make learning even more fun, all children who will answer the questions in the newsletter and visit at least eight park trails will be able to claim their Young Ranger sticker at any Triglav National Park's information point.


Youth at the Top 2021 

10 and 11 July 2021 

A family walk along the Soča Trail with stops along the way and a range of activities, with local food sampling provided at the TNP Info Centre Dom Trenta. Locally-sourced food, ecology and biodiversity are the central topics of this year's Youth at the Top event, which is held simultaneously in all protected alpine areas.


Events celebrating the 40th and 60th anniversary of Triglav National Park and the 25th anniversary of the Julian Prealps Nature Park in Trenta

The Slovenian-Italian event programme will be run in cooperation with the culture workers and representatives of neighbouring parks. The event will premiere TNP’s new documentary Nature Without Borders, which is also adapted for the blind and visually impaired. The events include the opening of a photography exhibition by Dan Briški and Dom Trenta will officially become the information and education centre of the Transboundary Ecoregion Julian Alps. The events will also commemorate 50 years of UNESCO's MAB – Man and Biosphere programme. 

Guided trail tours – the history of TNP

May  to October 2021

Guided tours will be organized to take visitors to the Pokljuka Gorge, the Trenta valley, Triglav Lakes Valley, the Tolmin side of the national park, the Vrata valley and the forests of the Pokljuka plateau.


Connecting exhibition: Jurij Mikuletič: Portraits of national park's biodiversity at Informacijski center Triglavska roža Bled and Center TNP Bohinj

The exhibition will be open from the end of May to the end of August in Bled and until the end of June in Bohinj.

Jurij Mikuletič’s amazingly realistic portraits of flora and fauna of Triglav National Park showcase the abundance of biodiversity to park visitors on information boards in the national park. Flowers, trees, birds, amphibians, and small and large mammals – the kind that we can see and the kind that watch us as we admire their dwellings, the diverse habitats of the national park. The exhibition features original drawings and highlights the stunning precision of the artist who has portrayed the species through the eyes of a great connoisseur of nature and its residents.  


Central event to celebrate TNP’s 40th and 60th anniversaries and Belar Award Ceremony

‘For Nature and People’ is the slogan that accompanies all the events held to commemorate the park’s double anniversary and the underlying message of the central event which the TNP Authority is organizing in collaboration with the local communities. A designated programme of cultural activities, the Belar Awards ceremony and the sampling of local delicacies from different parts of the national park will be the central elements that will commemorate 40 years of nature protection in this outstanding area of nature in a way that is friendly to the local people and visitors. 


Expert consultation on the 40th anniversary of the Triglav National Park Act (Triglav National Park 1981–2021)

The aim of the expert consultation is to shed light on the important historical events and the role of the park in Slovenia and the international environment, and highlight the importance of collaboration between institutions and activities in the area covered by the park.


Photography exhibition: Eternal Change Captured in Photographs

Ljubljana –Jakopič Gallery (Jakopičevo razstavišče), from 18 November 2021 (opens at 17:00) to 15 February 2022

The exhibition is designed as a photographic journey through time that shows the viewers the changes that have affected the park area, both through the iconic images and relatively unknown motifs of Triglav National Park. The basis of the exhibition is provided by 40 black and white photographs taken by Jaka Čop, the poet of mountain photography. The old photographs will be featured along with the contemporary colour photographs of the same motifs. The aim of the exhibition is to illustrate the changes to the natural landscape of the national park and highlight the role of photography over a longer period of time.



Should a live event be impossible due to public health restrictions, adaptations will be made to carry it out as a partially online event. Please check TNP website for future updates.  


The celebration of the 40th and 60th anniversaries of Triglav National Park will be held under the patronage of Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia.
